Prolific music producer thanks New Bedford for the motivation to his success
NEW BEDFORD — He started rapping in Bay Village and is now a Hollywood success. Duane DaRock Ramos says he owes his stellar career to New Bedford for pushing him to pursue his dreams.
“I want to be a motivation to everybody that you can make it,” the Cape Verdean New Bedford native said.
“Like there's nothing in the way.”
Ramos, 48, has been part of the music industry for over 30 years. Nicknamed the “Quincy Jones of hip-hop,” he’s worked with top artists such as Big Daddy Kane, Shaquille O’Neal, LL Cool J, Kevin Hart, Nicki Minaj and MC Lyte.

“I want to be an inspiration to New Bedford youth,” he said.
